JOHNNY DEPP OR GENE SIMMONS?
This is a nice foto taken at COMICON. It shows our GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS production mistress Black Betty (that's what I call her, and that's her monicker with Derby Dolls roller derby team).
All good, except it ain't Depp. It's me.
I wanted to walk through the convention, and our crew thought this was the way to do it.
Johnny Depp wishes he was as cute as I am.
Silly boy.

SIMMONS TO HOWL ON FILM
GENE SIMMONS is fulfilling a childhood dream, by providing the voice for the WOLF MAN in SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS and BENICIO DEL TORO's new movie.
Simmons was asked by The Wolf Man director Joe Johnston to record the creature's "howling voice" for the movie, scheduled for release next year. The invitation was a dream come true for the KISS rocker and film fanatic.
Simmons explains, "The original Wolfman starred Lon Chaney Jr., son of the legendary Lon Chaney Sr. Chaney Sr. was called Man Of 1,000 Faces, and for me was a pivotal figure in my childhood. So much so, that I wrote a song called Man of 1,000 Faces on my 1978 solo album, and my production company was also called Man of 1,000 Faces… in homage to Chaney."
The rocker's trademark tones are currently in demand in Tinseltown - he's already landed another voice-over job. The bassist adds, "I was asked to do the voice of the Dragon Spirit in M. Night Shyamalan’s forthcoming Airbender movie. This may or may not come to fruition. We’ll see.”

EXTRACT PREMIERES AUG 24TH
Here are some fotos of yours truly from EXTRACT, the new Mike (Beavis & Butthead) Judge written/directed movie, in which Jason Bateman and Ben Affleck star. I play an asshole LA lawyer (what else...). I'm the poster child of why the world hates lawyers (at least in this movie)...
I did the part a few months ago, after KISS got back from the European Stadium shows, and before the Canadian Stadium shows.
We are going to the premiere, and we will also film it for GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS Season V, which is currently shooting...

August 18th-
Recently was proud to have been asked to come in and do the "howling" voice for Universal's THE WOLFMAN, starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. What I saw looked terrific. The movie is having some special effects added.
The original Universal WOLFMAN starred Lon Chaney Jr (born Creighton Tull Jr)....son of the legendary LON CHANEY SR. Chaney Sr was called MAN OF 1,000 FACES and for me, was a pivotal figure in my childhood. So much so, that I wrote a song called "Man Of 1,000 Faces" on my 1978 solo album, and my production company (which signed VAN HALEN, when I found 'em in a club and other artists) was also called MAN OF 1,000 FACES...in homage to Chaney.
Yesterday, I went up to Vox, where I was asked to do the voice of the Dragon Spirit in M Night Shyamalan's forthcoming AIRBENDER movie. This may or may not come to fruition. We'll see.

NICK SIMMONS TO
SIGN COPIES OF INCARNATE
On August 22 from 1-3pm, Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles will present an autograph signing with Nick Simmons for the release of issue numer one of his new comic book Incarnate, from Radical Publishing.
Simmons, son of rock legend Gene Simmons and star of A&E’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels, comes a revolutionary new take on the undead. They cannot die. They feel no pain. They hunger for human flesh. They are Revenants. Centuries ago, the Revenant known as Mot was worshipped as a God. Now, he walks the Earth in search of a purpose to his immortality – but when a secret society discovers a way to kill Revenants, Mot and his fellow immortals must make a choice: Hunt or be hunted. Nick Simmons’ breakout American Manga title reveals a world that challenges even the imagination, planting its tongue firmly in cheek, then biting it off... and swallowing it.

NICK SIMMONS AT
GOLDEN APPLE COMICS
If I were the proprietor of Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles, I'd be pretty stoked. Why? Because a lot of the talent in the comic book industry have been making stops there for signings. While Nick Simmons might not quite be on the same level as the likes of say Jim Lee or Brian Michael Bendis, he does have a comic book coming out. And it does look intriguing. If you share that level of intrigue then you know where this is going.
On August 22 (from 1-3 PM), junior Simmons will be at the store to do an autograph signing for his new release from Radical Publishing called Incarnate. Omnicomic previewed the book last week, but if you missed it and don't feel like back-clicking, here's the story.
The book starts the tale of Mot, a boy who can't die. He is what some would affectionately call a Revenant; that is, an ageless creature that has existed since time "immemorial." The whole immortal thing works out well if you're a fan of life, but you have to imagine that after so many centuries of not dying you'd might get bored and want to die. Unfortunately, nothing can kill Revenants...until now. An organization known as the sanctum has figured how to kill them and are hunting Revenants, meaning it's up to Mot and his protege Connor to figure out how to stop them.
So make your way to Golden Apple Comics at 7018 Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, if you're in the area on August 22. If you need more information, call 323-658-6047. Otherwise, click the jump for the full press release.

August 16th-
Just got back from SINGAPORE. A group of us (myself, Radical's Barry Levine and Stomlion's Edmund Shearn) went over to meet potential partners for our VEGAS SHOW. What kind of show, you ask? What kind of project is it? You'll have to wait a little longer to find out. But, what we CAN tell you is that we already have a Vegas hotel that will be the first home of the project. We intend on taking the show around the world to different stages...perhaps in different languages.
While in Singapore, we did all the Asian media - business TV/dot.com sites and local entertainment media. Everything from MTV Asia to Bloomberg TV.
The weather in Singapore (without exaggeration) is an average 95 degrees!!! YEAR ROUND. Oh, forgot to mention - 90 percent humidity. And, there is a fruit that is BANNED IN THE SUBWAYS OF SINGAPORE, because it smells so bad. But Singaporeans love the taste. So, I tasted it. Have you heard the phrase "I threw up a little in my mouth." I did. Like nothing you would ever imagine in your mouth. Nothing.
We visited the Stormlion offices and met terrifically talented, creative people -- part of Edmund's team. And, we brought along our GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS to film the whole trip.
We visited the sites and met the people. We had little (Pyranna like) fish nibble dead skin off our feet. We visited one of the oldest Buddhist temples. We ate Italian, Indian and Singaporean food.
Flight time to and fro? 18 hours direct!!!INCARNATE, Nick's self written/drawn graphic novel (comic book) published by Radical is available for purchase. Just click here. He's knee deep in writing/drawing numbers 2 and 3...both of which will be huge graphic novels. One of 'em is around 70 pages!!!
And, proud to say that the entire first printing of Incarnate #1 is sold out in advance.
However, you can order yours from the stash we have at the Incarnate banner (on top).Soph is in Canada on her vacation. Working (that's my girl) and making new friends. Interning at an animal shelter, and doing charity work.
Miss Shannon Tweed just got back from there, and Young Nick is at home finishing his comic book.
Today, we're off to see DISTRICT 9. Can't wait.

INCARNATE #1-
Comic ReviewBy Leroy Douresseaux
Tues, Aug 4th, 2009
Every time Radical Publishing sends out press material regarding Nick Simmons and his new comic book miniseries, Incarnate, the top line of the press release usually says, “From Nick Simmons, son of rock legend Gene Simmons and star of A&E’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels…” Pushing the celebrity angle of a new product isn’t a bad idea, especially in a crowded market in a shaky economy. For the press releases regarding the second issue, however, Radical should say something along the lines of “Man, this is a good comic book!” because this is indeed a good comic book.
Incarnate’s dark fantasy narrative revolves around Mot. Mot is a Revenant, one of a group of immortal, ageless creatures. Their origins are a mystery, but humanity has feared, scorned, and even worshipped them since time immemorial. At least some of them apparently have a taste for human flesh, which they can tear through like a kid on cotton candy. Mot may be the sexiest of these gods/devils/monsters. He looks like a bishounen or androgynous version of Neil Gaiman’s goth-inspired Death from his revered comic book series, The Sandman. Mot’s lithe body suggests a leisurely life, but he does get worked up about killing.

THE DEVIL INSIDE:
NICK SIMMONS' INCARNATEBy Chris Arrant
Wed, Aug 5th, 2009
There are creatures out there who feel no pain; who hunger for human flesh, and walk the earth as immortals and gods. These souls, called Revenants, have been part of mankind for centuries, but one of them walks the earth questioning his own immortality. His name is Mot.
In the upcoming comic book Incarnate, Mot’s quest for the meaning to his immortality is put to the test when a secret society finds a weakness to the Revanants, and a way to kill them. With these immortals now faced with the threat of death, Mot is pulled into his first life or death struggle.. even though he doesn’t know if its worth it or not.
Incarnate comes from the mind (and pencil) of famous rock progeny, Nick Simmons. Nick, the son of KISS bassist Gene Simmons, has become a star on his own thanks to the success of the A&E reality show Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels. Simmons stands apart from other celebrities who have ventured into comics, bringing his creation to life in comics not only as the writer but the artist as well.
We talked with Nick Simmons about this three issue series from Radical, and living in the public eye.

INCARNATE #1-
Comic ReviewBy Mike Fish
Tues, Aug 4th, 2009
Pain. It’s overrated. Some wince at the very thought of being hurt. They flinch. They hide. They run. Pain not only gives intense feeling in a body; it sometimes stays there too. Sometimes...forever. It’s not surprising if you meet someone whose fantasy is to have the ability to live a life without pain. But even more surprising than that... is meeting someone who can. Let me introduce you to Mot. He’s a punk kid. Has a bad attitude, and can’t be killed. Such is life, hey?
From the mind of Nick Simmons, son of legendary Kiss rocker Gene Simmons, comes INCARNATE. A story about a monster named Mot that looks like a 12 year old kid brother. We’re not sure at this point if he’s a vampire, a demon, or the devil himself, but we do know he’s a badass when it comes to pain. In this issue, Simmons throws everything there is at him; Bullets, knives, an evil-looking scythe, and even a rocket launcher. After exploding with an RPG to the face, Mot just shakes it off and starts slicing up the place like a tomato before salsa. So what do you do with a character that can’t die?
For Simmons, it’s try harder.

CBR REVIEWS:
INCARNATE #1By Timothy Callahan
Tues, Aug 4th, 2009![]()
This wasn't what I expected at all.
Based on what I've sampled of Radical's comic book output, I expected this to be an overwrought movie-pitch-in-comics-form, or something high in concept but low in execution. Slick, sure, but soulless.
"Incarnate" is nothing like that.
Instead, Nick Simmons (and his legion of art assistants) gives us a deeply manga-influences series about immortal beings at war with humanity. It looks a lot closer to "Death Note" than it does to "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" and the sometimes crude but always energetic art works perfectly for this story. This sucker hums along from the first page 'til the last, and it proves that Nick Simmons is interested in telling a comic book story. Not an illustrated film treatment.
